O Wetton που είχε καρκίνο, πέθανε στις 31 Ιανουαρίου 2017. ήταν κατά καιρούς μέλος σε συγκροτήματα όπως King Crimson, Uriah Heep, και Roxy Music πριν φτιάξει τους Asia το 1980, στους οποίους ήταν τραγουδιστής, αλλά και μπασίστας, επίσης είχε παίξει στα συγκροτήματα του Progressive Rock,Mogul Thrash, Family και Renaissance. Είχε παίξει σε δεκάδες άλλα συγκροτήματα και μουσικούς.
Στους King Crimson συμμετείχε στα άλμπουμ Larks' Tongues in Aspic, Starless and Bible Black, Red. Το 1974 με την διάλυση των King Crimson έπαιξε σε δύο άλμπουμ των Uriah Heep, σε άλμπουμ του Bryan Ferry, στο Here Come The Warm Jets του Brian Eno και στο Viva Roxy Music.
Το 1978 έφτιαξε τους UK μαζί με τους Bill Bruford, Eddie Jobson και Allan Holdsworth και το 1980 τους Asia που είχαν τεράστια επιτυχία με το πρώτο τους άλμπουμ, μαζί με τους Carl Palmer, και τα μέλη των Yes, Geoff Downes και Steve Howe.
